Marasmiellus
Marasmiellus is a genus of fungi in the family Omphalotaceae that has over 250 whole species! Talk about a large family gathering, sheesh... Their often not paid too much attention to due to how plain they look, being uncolorful, small and without much variation..HOWEVER! They're pretty important, degrading leafy and woody remains, that of which plays a significant ecological role.
This goes to show that being boring doesn't mean you can't be important.
Funfacts:
They can survive drying up and essentially come back to life when water returns! Imagine being temporarily dead. And then BOOM! You just revive when water comes back! Crazy right?!
